"Moving On" from "Birthright: Poems for the Journey" by Devi Nina Bingham

Moving On

Raindrops spin the dragging clock
pitter-pat, tick-tock.
Time moves lazily around,
pound down is the sound.
Pelting, spitting, splattering storm
is an Oregon norm.
Winter storm or sun shower
I should be a flower.
It will be a soggy day,
rain, rain, go away.
Drumming, tapping, rivers run
gaily, having fun.
It is only in my head
I feel a certain dread.
Arizona sun beckons.
Moving, I reckon.
